Directed by the staging director of the modern chamber orchestra Alarm Will Sound, Peter Handke's wordless play presented quite a challenge: using sound to tell the stories of hundreds of characters as they proceed relentlessly across the stage. This design used original music, live sound sampled, and a huge archive of found and constructed sound, from TV news recordings to George Crumb's electronic experiments, in hundreds of cues.
