Reed Whitney in The Cherry Orchard by Anton Chekhov Reed Whitney
The Cherry Orchard is a joy to design, as it features one of the most famous sounds in theatre history: the snapping of a subterranean cable, miles away across the Russian countryside. For this production, I also composed and recorded the sound of a Russian peasant band playing their interpretation of popular French music circa 1900.
